Cute Date Ideas for Wintertime in Los Angeles

December 5, 2017

Though the weather outside isn’t quite frightful, there are plenty of ways to celebrate winter in LA. Try these cute date ideas for wintertime in Los Angeles, even if it’s not cold enough to cuddle up by a fire.

Have a Snow Day

Go tubing, snowboarding, or skiing just two hours away at Big Bear. Or head down south to Julian, an hour outside of San Diego to go eat famous apple pie and play in the snow. When you’re too cold, get back in the car and head back to the warm weather Angelenos love.

Watch Holiday Movies in Your PajamasPalace theatre movies: Cute Date Ideas for Wintertime in Los Angeles

Cinespia, the organization behind the movies at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, does a winter series of favorite films. They screen movies like Home Alone and Hook and encourage the audience to come in pajamas. (Plus, there’s ice cream!) Sure, you could stay inside and watch movies at home, but it’s more fun to dress in your PJs and head to some of the best theatres in Downtown LA.

Warm Up on a Cocktail Tour

For the rare chilly days Los Angeles gets, we recommend getting a drink to warm up. Or, go on our Hollywood Cocktail tour and visit three bars on our two-hour cocktail experience. It’s the great way to start off date night or make it a quirky first date. We lean toward refreshing cocktails since in LA you won’t need anything as warm as a Hot Toddy.

Go Ice Skating

LA has a surprising number of ice skating rinks. On the west side, head to the outdoor rink at Santa Monica’s Promenade. Downtown Los Angeles residents can skate at Pershing Square or outside of L.A. Live. Or head further out of the city to Long Beach’s Queen Mary rink or Downtown Burbank. Somehow, these rinks stay solid even on warm winter days. They can get pretty crowded on weekends with other couples looking to hold hands and glide in circles. But it’s worth the photo opp and hand-holding opportunities while you attempt to stay standing.
